Analysis of characters:
The characters are basically the essence of story and they are what the author want thereaders to focus on.
The author then uses the characters in his story to depict the theme and topic of the story. In thisstory,
"After the Race", James Joyce uses different type of characters that have later on in the story, show different
sides of their personality. He uses a third person narrative so that the readers are able to focus on all the characters,
but at the same time, talks about Jimmy Doyle the most so that the readers are able to see the point of the story
through this character. As we see in the story, we see the admiration of the main character to a very rich and powerful
man and hangs out with this mans 'posse'. As the story progresses, we then
see that the man and his posse are notso admirable after all as they all eventually deceits him and show their side that
they do not acutally care about Jimmy and only cares about their own wealth and power.
